Sticky Rice in Bamboo (Thai Khao Lam)

Sticky Rice in Bamboo

I found this interesting Thai dessert in Thailand. It’s basically just sticky rice, coconut milk, and sugar cooked in a hollow bamboo stick. I found it very mildly sweet, but it can be made sweeter. The thicknesses of the bamboo sticks also vary – the ones I tried had pretty thin bamboo so that I could break open the bamboo with just my fingernails.

If you’d like to try making it yourself, then check out this recipe here.

STEP 1: One end of the bamboo stick has rice sticking out. Poke your fingernail into the bamboo. Use a paring knife if your bamboo stick is thicker.
