Chareon Suan Ake is located in a small village not too far from Maya (around 10 minutes scooter ride).
We went after reading about Andy Ricker’s recommendation of the place:
For those looking to go deeper into authentic Northern Thai cuisine, this is Ricker’s top pick, located in a small village off the Irrigation Canal Road.
This is definitely worth a vist – but if you have a Thai friend, then it’s way better to bring them along as there is no English menu and no server speaks any English!

The entire menu is in Thai unfortunately, so it’s best if you can translate it before getting there.
One of the other customers at the restaurant ordered a selection of dishes for us, so I’m not too sure what I was eating! Just beware that everything is quite spicy. My favorite dish (we ended up ordering 3 plates of it) was the pork jerky with crispy deep-fried lime kefir leaves.
