Importing photos into Lightroom 5 is probably the first step to processing photos in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. Below is a super short video showing you the steps, or if you prefer reading, then below are step-by-step screenshot photos.
How To Import Photos Into Lightroom 5
STEP 1: Open Lightroom and click on “Library” at the top of the software if you’re not already in the Library module.
STEP 2: Click on the “Import…” button at the bottom of the Navigator panel on the left side of the software (see arrow).
STEP 3: If the left side doesn’t appear, then the Navigator panel might be hidden. You’ll see a small arrow on the left side of the software (see arrow below). Clicking on the small arrow will make the Navigator appear.
STEP 4: After you click on the “Import…” button at the bottom of the Navigator panel, the left panel will change to show you the files on your computer and any hard-disks attached.
STEP 5: Find the folder where the photos you want to edit are and click on it. Check any or all of the photos you’d like to import into Lightroom to edit. Then click the Import button on the bottom right of the software (see arrow).
STEP 6: You can check the progress of the import by looking at the bar at to the top left of the software. When the import is complete, it’ll say “Task complete.”
STEP 7: That’s it – you can start editing (or developing) the photos by clicking Develop at the top right of the software (which will change Lightroom into the Develop module). To edit any specific photo, click on one of the photos from the bottom row of photo thumbnails.
